FW: The Word for Today

11 TH HOUR REAPERS

By Rev. Bob Gass

I will give unto this last even as unto thee.
Matthew 20:14

It's going to take an 11th hour crew to reap the 11th hour harvest. The previous generation of reapers struggles to understand them.

Recently I spent two days listening to contemporary Christian music, including Christian Rock and Rap. The guitars wailed, the bass throbbed, the drums pounded, and they sounded like they were screaming the words. I got a headache. Later, when someone read them to me, the words were solidly scriptural and Christ-exalting. What does this mean? It means it's going to take a redeemed generation of their peers, who understand and speak their language, to gather this final harvest.

The 11th hour reapers grew up in a generation where guns go to school, and drugs are available on every corner. Half of them come from single parent families, and others sought for companionship and worth in a gang. Their mentors and heroes had blue cropped-off hair, multiple earrings, and wore leather. But the 11th hour reapers know how to gather in this harvest. So to us, who are part of another generation, let's withhold criticism and pray for a heart of love. God is visiting them, just like He did us. We have only to rejoice in the harvest and remember the promise, "I will give unto this last, even as unto thee." (Matthew 20:14)

Read Matthew 20 and think about it.
